Davao Fashion Events for August 2017

Kadayawan is fast approaching and fashion enthusiasts are probably wondering what’s in store for the festive season!

During the Abreeza Fashion Forum, Aztec Barba and Emi Englis from Davao Fashion Designer’s Council with Gatchi Gatchilian, the Kadayawan Festival Director revealed three cultural-themed fashion events happening at Abreeza Mall this August 2017 in line with festival.


The 3-Day fashion-filled weekend from August 4-6, Friday to Sunday, will highlight the works of Ann Pamintuan and Davao Fashion Designer’s Council garments showcased through an exhibit. On August 5, a Design Summit that will tackle industry professionalism, ethical practices, design education, and style forecasts from 10am-5pm. Lastly, a fashion show will be held on the 6th that will parade modernized fashionable pieces inspired by the 11 Kadayawan Tribes of Davao, the exhibited Ann Pamintuan-themed pieces, a “Kadayawan Faces” showcase featuring makeup brand Artistry, and high street fashion from Abreeza Mall’s own luxe brands.


On August 11, the Matigsalug Indigenous Crafts Project, a project spearheaded by AboitizPower subsidiary Therma South, Inc. and the Department of Trade and Industry with the involvement of TADECO, Yvette Bags and Beads Collection, Great Gifts, and Maria Vinecrafts that aims to build a livelihood program for the members of the Matigsalug Council of Elders, will be launched at the Mindanao Trade Expo to showcase their craftsmanship.


Habi Kadayawan, a Kadayawan-tribe themed accessory design competition brought by the Kadayawan Executive Committee together with DFDC is a challenge to professional designers and aspirants to create accessories and display not only craftsmanship but also the cultural heritage of the 11 Kadayawan Tribes of Davao.
